Team USA’s Xander Sc Chaudele and Jordan Spieth celebrate after beating Team Europe 19 to nine in the 43rd Ryder Cup.

To the victor goes the booty. Xander ScHotele capitalized on the old saying after winning the Ryder Cup with Team USA on Sunday. The American golfer was the only member of the team to have lit a cigar after the trophy was presented.

The past Ryder Cup marks the ninth time Team USA has won the award. And with the lone cigar, there were two large bottles of Moët & Chandon champagne, which were popped right on the course in Haven, Wisconsin at Whistling Straits.

Team USA celebrates a big win.

The golf competition takes place every two years, so it’s basically the World Cup of Golf with teams from Europe and the United States competing to see who can hit the ball best. The nine trophies for the United States are almost equal to the total of 11 for Europe. The squad consisted of 12 players whose points all contributed to the weekend’s victory.

Golf and cigars are famous friends, although it is quite rare to see cigarettes leak on a professional outing. However, it’s no surprise that Alex took the opportunity to celebrate in style.
