New Gujarat CM is a devotee of Guru Dada Bhagwan. This is what the “movement of purification” means

Bhupendra Rajnikant Patel, 59, the chief prime minister of Ahmedabadi of Gujarat, is also a first deputy, prime minister and the first Kadva Patel to occupy the CM seat.

Patel, engineer and builder, is also a fervent follower of the spiritual guru Dada Bhagwan, founder of the Akram Vignan movement, a purification movement in the image of what is practiced in Jainism. The spiritual foundation has many followers in Gujarat.

According to an article in The Print, Bhupendra Patel was a frequent visitor to the Dada Bhagwan Mandir in Ahmedabad and even when he went to meet Governor Acharya Devvrat as the newly elected leader of the BJP legislative party, he stopped by the late guru. Trimandir ‘to seek blessings.

Party leaders and others who have worked with Patel say he has the humility and ability to work with anyone without an ego, like his guru, Dada Bhagwan.

“The Dada Bhagwan Foundation is a non-profit spiritual organization formed with the aim of spreading peace, harmony and ultimate happiness in the world through the science of Akram Vignan – the science of self-realization as ‘exhibited by Gnani Purush Shree Ambalal Muljibhai Patel, affectionately known as Param Pujya Dadashri or Dada Bhagwan,’ says his website.

“Satsangs are in question-and-answer form and include a wide variety of questions ranging from the most subtle spiritual issues, problems or doubts to gross worldly matters. The satsangs and Gnan Vidhi are complementary, open to the general public without any discrimination of caste, color, religion or belief, ”he adds.

Bhupendra Patel’s family members said he was known as Dada, which means elder brother, among his relatives and friends. His daughter-in-law also declared that he was a staunch devotee of Bhagwan Dada and shortly after his rise to the highest office, Patel visited the Bhagwan Dada temple last night.

Born in Ahmedabad, Patel is an MP from the seat of Ghatlodia, previously held by the former chief minister and now governor of Uttar Pradesh, Anandiben Patel. He won the seat by more than 1.17 lakh votes in 2017, the highest margin in this poll. Ghatlodia is part of the constituency of Gandhinagar Lok Sabha represented by Shah.

Patel, who holds a degree in civil engineering, served as Ahmedabad city councilor and chairman of the standing committee of the Ahmedabad municipal corporation and the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority. He is also a director of the Patidar Sardardham and Vishwa Umiya Foundation organizations. With state assembly polls slated for December 2022, the BJP is banking on Bhupendra Patel, a Patidar, to lead the party. In the 2017 parliamentary elections, the BJP won 99 of 182 seats and Congress won 77.

Patel has never held a ministerial post, as has Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who never served as a minister when he became Gujarat CM 20 years ago. Modi was sworn in as CM on October 7, 2001 and became a Member of Parliament on February 24, 2002, winning the Rajkot seat by poll. Gujarat BJP leader CR Paatil said Patel’s work at the local level, his grip on the cooperative sector, his association with party workers and his administrative capacity were among the factors that led to his rise.
