Well, the singer, who shot to fame in the 2000s, took a page from Smith’s assault book and slapped her husband, Patrick Carney, in the face “once or twice.”

TMZ broke the news of the split with Branch, telling the outlet, “To say I’m totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel about myself and my family.” The rug has been completely pulled out from under me and now I have to figure out how to move forward. With such young children, I ask for privacy and kindness.
On the same day of the assault, Branch took to Instagram to promote her new single, “I’m A Man.”
She shared a video saying, “Thank you all for listening to ‘I’m A Man’. Hope you’re enjoying it so far. It’s a song I wrote about the pressures of being a man in our society and how far we still have to go to make sure women are equal.
Interesting the timing of it all. Irony? Chance?
Branch captioned the video, “‘I’m A Man’ is a song that means a lot to me, especially in these turbulent times as a woman. I’d love to hear what the song has meant to you! Please share a message using the song and #MyOwnDamnBody (And I might just share yours! 💕).
