Chef Michael Mina’s culinary presence is set to change in Los Angeles with a restaurant called Mother tongue, inside a future fitness center called Heimat at the corner of La Bréa and Romain. Heimat will include the Mina restaurant, gym, day spa, rooftop pool, jacuzzi and outdoor bar with city views. The establishment is slated to open in a former coworking space in early 2022.
Mother Tongue was born when Mina Group partnered with RSG Group, which owns Gold’s Gym and other fitness facilities. The menu will focus on plant-based foods and whole foods. Of all the cities to launch Mother Tongue and Heimat, Los Angeles seems like a great place to try it, given this combination of fitness and dining. Via a press release, Mother Tongue is described as “a place for an evening with friends, a happy hour cocktail, a business lunch or a breakfast with colleagues”.
Los Feliz Pinky’s bar – by the Atrium team – reopened this week with a new drink menu dedicated to 1980s beach culture. Beverage manager Aly Iwamoto invented the latest cocktails, including including the three day weekend with bourbon, pineapple rim and banana. If you need food while you drink, try the birria or potato tacos.
