Mehrdad Ghodoussi enjoys a meal at Newcastle after a ‘long day’ during the club’s busy January transfer window


Mehrdad Ghodoussi continued to win the hearts of Newcastle United fans when he stepped out into the city center to enjoy a meal the day before the club’s draw with Watford.

The Newcastle United owner paid a visit to the Landmark Oriental Restaurant on Stowell Street on Friday evening January 14.

During his visit, he had a meal with friends and relaxed with a Tsingtao beer, telling his followers it was what he needed after a “long day”.

Tweeting a photo of his beer on the table, Mehrdad said, “Happy ending to a long day…thank you Yen for a great meal.”

His comments come during a busy January transfer window for Newcastle, which has already seen the club sign Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood.

Owners of the popular restaurant would not comment on Mehrdad’s visit, but said he and his companions were “very nice people”.

Mehrdad’s support for the restaurant, which serves ‘oriental cuisine’ as well as ‘beers, wine and champagne from around the world’, has earned him praise from fans on Twitter, who have applauded him for supporting local businesses from the city.

One fan tweeted: “Enjoy your downtime mate.

“We appreciate everything you and the new ownership team do for our special club.

“We’re with you every step of the way gaffer!”

Mehrdad Ghodoussi tweeted that he enjoyed a meal at Landmark Oriental Restaurant, on Stowell Street, Newcastle.

Another said: “You still have two weeks of long days left.

“But a big thank you to you and Amanda for everything you’ve done for us!”

Another said: “Love the owners of my club, sincerely caring and committed.

“Thank you, it means more than money.

“We want people who understand, we’re not greedy, we just need owners who care.”
