If you follow the Barstool Classic Golf Tournament on social media, don’t be surprised to see some players smoking Macanudo cigars. The brand owner, General Cigar Co., sponsors the 26 events across the country. The tournament kicked off yesterday and is expected to span 14 states until the qualifying rounds end in late September. Registration for the events is now sold out and the championship will be held in November at the legendary Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina.
As the official sponsor of the Barstool Classic cigars, General places a Macanudo Inspirado branded mobile humidifier on-site at every event for players to light up and blow between the swings. A brand ambassador will be present to cut and light a Macanudo Inspirado White or Orange.

“Barstool Sports is shaking up the conventions typical of sports programming to reach a wide range of adults, especially those who fall into the category of handmade cigars,” said Steve Abbot, senior manager of the Macanudo brand.
While most golf tournaments feature pros, the Barstool Classic is made up of everyday golfers who compete in handicap-friendly matches. Teams play the best ball in pairs, with hopes of securing a championship spot at Pinehurst in November, and all participating players must have a handicap.
General also runs the Macanudo Inspirado Barstool Sports online competition, which offers monthly prizes from May through September. Two grand prize winners will each receive a Macanudo Inspirado Barstool Sports golf set consisting of TaylorMade clubs, a co-branded golf bag and branded headwear.
