KP Group CMD Faruk Patel celebrates its 50th anniversary with a mini-marathon and a host of social events and donations

Surah, March 27: The picturesque village of Dumas, on the outskirts of Surat city, hosted the first-ever mini-marathon to raise awareness about health issues. Thank you to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of KP Group, Faruk Patel, who decided to celebrate his 50th birthday to raise health awareness and ensure a healthy future for the country, the state and their families.

Faruk Patel is well known in Surat for his charitable and social actions, besides being a successful businessman. Each year, a cake cutting ceremony is held at Patel’s home to honor his birthday, attended by staff, family members, loved ones and well-wishers. Because it was his golden jubilee birthday, Patel decided to celebrate it in a unique way. A fitness enthusiast who sticks to his daily exercise routine, Patel thought of hosting a mini-marathon to raise awareness of health issues and require participants to take a oath to be health-conscious.

Not just the mini-marathon, a host of social activities and donation events took place on March 24 to celebrate Patel’s 50th birthday. After attending the Dumas mini-marathon, Faruk Patel went straight to the nursing home run by Ambikaniketan Trust, where the elderly inmates invited him to the cake cutting ceremony. As a return gift to elderly inmates, Patel announced that he would donate a fridge to store daily supplies of vegetables and milk.

At Modeshwari Retirement Home located in Bhatha village, Patel inaugurated the 25 kilowatt capacity rooftop solar system to help save Rs 36,000 in monthly expenses on electricity bill payment. Additionally, Patel donated Rs 1 lakh to be used for medical expenses for elderly inmates. All the elderly inmates of the nursing home, who saw their sons and daughters in Faruk Patel, hugged him and prayed for his long life.

The elderly inmates recalled the kind gesture of Faruk Patel for inviting them and the disabled children to his son Affan Patel’s wedding ceremony and giving them gifts and delicious food.

The Disabled Welfare Trust of India (DWTI), led by Padma Shri, Dr. Kanu Tailor, had organized a cultural program to celebrate Faruk Patel’s 50th birthday. Children with disabilities or ‘divyang’ from the trust participated in the cake cutting ceremony, where Patel announced the establishment of a retirement home for disabled elderly people in Surat. Patel’s parents – Gulam Patel and Rashidaben Patel – planted around 50 saplings on the DWTI campus to celebrate Faruk Patel’s birthday. It should be noted that about 91 ‘divyang’ children from DWTI were taken on pilgrimage to Haridwar by Faruk Patel. He pledged to sponsor about 12 Muslim “divyang” children and their mothers for the pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina.

Patel, who adopted two schools from Nagar Prathamik Shikshan Samiti run by the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) – School 105 and 149 – was invited to the prize distribution event for the drawing competition organized on the theme of “renewable energy” on the occasion of its 50th anniversary party. Children and staff members participated in the cake cutting event to celebrate Faruk Patel’s Golden Jubilee birthday.

After the DWTI event, Patel was driven to Lajpore Central Jail to inaugurate the solar water heaters for inmates. For the upliftment of prison inmates, KP Group KP Human Development Foundation has been working effectively for many years. So far, the foundation has donated five roti machines, 12 solar water heaters and gym equipment for the welfare of convicts. On his 50th birthday, Patel planted 50 sample trees on prison premises and distributed ice cream to inmates.

A big birthday party was held at KP House on the night of March 24. This is where all of the KP group staff attended the medical check-up camp with Patel.

The KP Group Core Team has released a documentary film depicting the life of Faruk Patel and his journey from struggle to success and the launch of Wikitia. The underprivileged and trail dwellers residing near the KP house were fed a sumptuous meal, and they joined in the cake cutting with Faruk Patel.

On his birthday, about 600 orphans from Yatimkhana and Mahajan Anathashram received a treat of delicious food, and Patel’s birthday was celebrated with the cake cutting event.

Bharat Patel, an employee of Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL), who lost both his arms due to electric shock while on duty, visited KP house with DGVCL Assistant Engineer Hirabhai Patel, to wish Faruk Patel his 50th birthday. Immediately after the incident, Faruk Patel gave financial support to Bharat Patel to repair artificial weapons.

Meanwhile, many organizations including Bharuchi Vohra Patel Surat Federation, Muslim Education Society, etc., had held events to celebrate Faruk Patel’s 50th birthday.

The highlight of the anniversary celebration was the issuance of around 50 postage stamps highlighting the life and work of Faruk Patel. The postage stamps contain approximately 50 images of Faruk Patel in figurative expressions released by his father Gulam Patel and his mother, Rashidaben Patel, who prayed for their son’s long life.
