Devotee presents 6.5kg golden sword at Tirupati temple



Visakhapatnam: The Tirumala Tirupati Balaji temple in Andhra Pradesh is one of the most prestigious and richest temples in the country. Devotees offer offerings worth millions of rupees to Lord Venkateswara Swami in this temple. In the same vein, the Srinivas couple from Hyderabad on Monday presented a gold sword made at a cost of Rs 1.8 crore (around Rs 4 crore in the current situation).

The Srinivas couple arrived at the temple on Monday morning and handed the golden sword to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) officials. The Srinivas couple displayed a sword weighing around six and a half kilograms to media at the Collective Guest House in Tirumala on Sunday. The Srinivas couple reportedly wanted to return the sword to the temple for a year, but this was not possible due to the crown. The gold sword “Surya Katari” was allegedly made by the Srinivas couple from specialist jewelers in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It took about 6 months to build. The golden sword, weighing six and a half kilograms, was built at around Rs 1.8 crore, but is currently worth around Rs 4 crore.
