Cigars International to Open Third Retail Store in Texas


The Lone Star State is about to open its third huge Cigars International store, this time in San Antonio. According to parent company Scandinavian Tobacco Group, the store will span 7,197 square feet of indoor space with an additional 1,500 square foot patio for outdoor smoking. The grand opening is scheduled for May 14.

So why does Texas need another supermarket like this? Sarah Santos, Senior Vice President of STG, puts it plainly, “San Antonio and the San Antonio-Austin Corridor is one of the fastest growing regions in the country, with a trajectory that is expected to continue over the coming San Antonio’s highly regarded economic development programs are driving the current influx of technology and electric automakers into the area, adding to the stellar customer base already in the market.

Construction began in October last year and, like other Cigars International outlets, the upcoming store is designed to resemble the tobacco barns of the Northeast with high wooden beam ceilings. Amenities will include a full-service bar and lounge, private event space, lounge seating, Wi-Fi, adequate ventilation, and over 800 different cigar brands. But this particular location will be different from other Cigars International hypermarkets. According to STG, a concierge at the entrance will be there to greet customers as they enter. And a large communal table will be at the center of the layout, allowing for more seating and easier conversation between customers.

In June last year, STG announced a large-scale warehouse expansion of Cigars International, which is also the world’s largest online retailer of premium cigars.

This not only represents the third Cigars International retail store in Texas, but the eighth in the United States. There are three in Pennsylvania and two more in Florida. It is located in The Landmark at 5630 Landmark Parkway in the San Antonio Outer Loop.

This new store is one of six to eight new Cigars International locations that STG plans to open “in the next two to three years,” according to its latest annual report, at a cost of $4 million to $7 million per store. .
