Woods of Hornsea, a single-branch mixed merchant based in the coastal town of Hornsea in Yorkshire, is the latest addition.

Yorkshire-based independent builder Woods of Hornsea has become the latest addition to the h&b development group.

Woods of Hornsea is a single-branch co-ed merchant based in the coastal town of Hornsea, Yorkshire, run by husband and wife team Nick and Mandy Tudor.

The Tudors took over Woods in 2016 when it was a DIY/hardware store with four employees. They grew the business to a turnover of £2 million with 13 employees and a full range of light and heavy side building materials sold from the Trading Post and Yard.

Woods serves local builders and craftsmen with delivery facilitated by a fleet of 7.5 tonne truck cranes perfectly suited to the locality.

“We are very happy and excited to join the h&b family,” said Nick Tudor. “h&b was recommended to us by various people – among other band members and industry contacts – and when we spoke to the h&b team, we wanted to get involved.

“As well as great deals, we believe being part of h&b will give us access to the biggest and best brands in the building industry. With a refurbished and expanded branch and office and now joining h&b, Woods of Hornsea is looking forward to implement ambitious expansion plans.

The h&b development group offers small traders a proven path to growth and full group membership. With a basket of offers and the support and guidance of h&b and its partners, members of the h&b development group can increase their turnover and margin to a point where they can join the main group after having achieved key growth milestones.

This proven gateway to buying group membership is a unique initiative in the merchant industry and has already seen a number of merchants successfully transition from the program to the main h&b group.

h&b is a truly independent merchant buying group with sales of over £1 billion a year through its growing number of independent builder merchants. 110 h&b merchant members with nearly 300 branches negotiate in partnership with around 280 suppliers. h&b offers its member merchants a real opportunity to improve their profitability and increase their market share by being part of the UK’s most progressive buying group.
