People spoke and General Cigar Co. responded. After reviewing years of surveys and customer feedback, General looked at consumer data and created a Punch cigar called The People’s Champ, a one-size-fits-all smoke made in conjunction with The Punch Brotherhood, which is a group in line of Punch brand enthusiasts.
In a rather egalitarian approach, General began soliciting consumer feedback for this project in 2019. Now that Punch fans have had their say, the result is a limited-edition robusto with a five-country blend made in Honduras in the HATSA factory. The People’s Champ consists of a Honduran wrapper from the Talanga Valley, a binding and a Mexican San Andrés stuffing from Brazil, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic.
At 5 inches long by 50 rings, it’s blended to be a medium-bodied smoke and will ship to retailers on June 1 with a suggested retail price of $6.49 per cigar. According to General, the new Punch is a brick-and-mortar exclusive.
While The People’s Champ will come in five-point and 10-point paper-wrapped packets, General is keeping the packaging secret until the cigar’s launch next week. It will be unveiled on the Punch website.
