Built-In DIY Firewood Storage Shelves
This gorgeous fireplace wall by @acarriedaffairdesigns integrates the firewood with the design as a decorative feature. She combined IKEA bookshelves and raw materials to create an entire wall of built-in storage.
Narrow open shelves flank the fireplace, keeping the firewood accessible. The cut wood contrasts nicely with the dark green paint (Backwoods by Benjamin Moore.)
Modern Metal DIY Firewood Storage Rack
These modern wood racks from @michaelrobertconstruction were customized by a metal fabricator. But you could DIY a similar look with black steel pipe and elbow fittings.
The metal bars keep the wood neatly stacked and create visual interest in this beautiful outdoor space. Be sure to install this kind of rack in a protected setting like a covered porch to keep the wood dry.

One-Day DIY Firewood Storage Rack
@woodyworking visualized and created this firewood box in one day. “It was a fun change of pace to build with no real plans other than an idea in my head,” he writes. “And as long as it keeps the firewood dry, it’s a win!”
The cinder blocks support the weight of the wood and elevate it off the ground, keeping it dry. And the top offers extra seating in a pinch.
Narrow DIY Firewood Storage Rack
This narrow firewood rack is great for a small outdoor space because it fits nicely next to the house or backyard fence. It’s made with pressure treated 2x4s for the base and corrugated roofing panels to keep the firewood dry. The only tools you’ll need are a circular saw and a drill. DIY Firewood Storage Rack Bracket Kit
This rack bracket kit makes building your own firewood rack super easy no matter your woodworking skills. It comes with two steel leg brackets that perfectly fit 2x4s. Simply insert the 2x4s and attach with the included screws.
The finished project, a U-shaped rack, can be customized to fit your needs. Use longer 2x4s for a big outdoor unit, or shorter 2x4s for small rack next to your fireplace.

A-Frame DIY Firewood Storage Shed
When @tinalemac couldn’t find the perfect size A-frame firewood shed, she decided to make her own with wood and a miter saw. The base is made of 2x4s. For the roof, she used four-foot flat-top fence lumber, overlapping the planks to prevent leaks. The end result is a cute little shed, simple and modern — a beautiful feature for any backyard or porch.
