Why bring an entire toolbox to the job when just one tool can do the trick?
While that might be a slight exaggeration of the adaptability and versatility of the Gerber Suspension-NXT Multi-Tool, it’s really not that far off. Calling this multi-tool a “pocket knife”, while technically accurate, seems a bit reductive. Sure, it shares a few traits with the classic red–and-white Swiss army knife, but it also offers much, much more.
Take, for instance, the number of tools packed into this compact device. Old-school pocket knives typically have around five to seven attachments. The Gerber Suspension-NXT, on the other hand, has fifteen tool attachments, including:
- Needle-nose Pliers
- Wire Stripper
- Flathead Driver
- File
- Awl
- Ruler
- Can Opener
- Scissors
- Serrated Blade
And it’s not just that this multi-tool contains a lot of tools, either. When he got the chance to try out the Supension-NXT himself, professional woodworker and Family Handyman contributor Marty Dyck was notably impressed by the design and sturdy build of the multi-tool.
“Everything is easily retractable,” said Marty. “It’s really heavy-duty, but lightweight at the same time.”
Even though it won’t flat-out replace the full-sized versions of the tools it contains, this multi-tool will more than hold up in most smaller applications and could really be a life-saver for someone in a pinch.
“It’s something that’s really handy,” said Marty. “If you don’t want to keep it in your pocket, at least keep one in your car.”
